Home at last!
I was up first this morning, then Josh was next. He had to leave
at 8:30 to get to work in Fresno. Dave was up next, then Brenda
and Owen. After our breakfast we began to pack up our things.
Once the car was loaded we said our good-byes, and then
headed off. Just after we left I got a phone call - it was Brenda.
She said that when she and Owen went back inside, Owen
noticed one of my Starbucks cups and pointed it out to her. We
went back to get it, and we did stop at Starbucks on our way out.
I called Russ to give him an estimated time of arrival, and we
continued toward home. Our only stop was in Kettleman City to
eat lunch at the Taco Bell there.
Then it was on to Paso Robles. At 2:22 pm we pulled into our
driveway. No one heard us come in until we walked into the
hallway and said “Hi” to Russ. Then he jumped up, and
Dimples and Toby, our dog and Russ’, came running out to see
us. This was my first time to see Russ’ new pup, Toby. He looks
so much like another dog Russ once had named Thor. Amazing.
We then emptied the stuff out of the van into the garage. That
took awhile, but we finally had everything out. I’ll get it put
away as quickly as possible.
I looked around the house, played with the dogs for awhile, then
checked out the back yard. Then I knew I had to begin
someplace, so I began taking a few bags into the house and
emptying them out, and putting the stuff away. It will take
awhile to find a place for everything. I’ll probably need to get
rid of some things.
Once I get unpacked I’ll have to decide where to start to get
things back in shape here.
After awhile the three of us went
to Panda Express for dinner.
Back home I showered in my own shower for the first time in
months. It was wonderful. And tonight I shall sleep in my own
bed for the first time in months. That, too, shall be wonderful.
This will be the last journal entry for the GAP Walk. Keep
checking the website periodically for updates on speaking and
other things.
Good night all.
