GAP WALK JOURNALS - IX
Friday - November 21, 2008
Day - 261
Walking Days - 106 Total GAP miles 1832.7
Our last day before we get home, and it was a relaxing, easy-
going day. Josh and Brenda both left for work, and took Owen
to his pre-school. Dave was still sleeping when they left.
Later when Dave got up we headed out to Jack in the Box for
breakfast. I realize that may not be exciting to you, but just like
the other night when we ate at Jack in the Box for dinner, and I
hadn’t even seen a Jack in the Box for months. It was really
great! I know, I know, I get excited very easily.
Now Jack in the Box here in Los Banos is just across the drive
from Starbucks, and this is the Starbucks where Brenda was
working. So when we finished breakfast, we went on over to see
Brenda - ok, I actually went to get myself a chai tea latte. But
we did get to see Brenda too.
Then we went back to the house where I worked on the
computer for a bit while Dave went back to bed. He figured he
might as well get caught up on his sleep a bit since once we get
home we’re both gonna be very busy.
I took time to call Earline and talk with her. I needed to get a
phone number for our doctor so I could call and set up an
appointment. My doctor retired while I was on the walk, and the
doctor replacing him is Dr. Davis. My dentist is also Dr. Davis,
but even more confusing is that their first names are the same as
well. Now this should be really interesting.
After I finished on the computer I decided to watch a little TV.
Katie , their mini-dachshund, wanted my attention a lot as well,
and I could give her plenty of attention while I watched TV. We
were going to watch a DVD after Dave got up, but we couldn’t
figure out how to get the DVD player to work. We finally
figured out that what looked like a DVD player wasn’t really a
DVD player. Oh, well, so much for watching a DVD.
Brenda got home around 5:45 pm from work, and we headed
out to eat some dinner. Josh wasn’t going to be home for awhile,
so we went ahead. Then Scott and Lisa called to see about
coming over. Scott and Lisa are Owen’s god-parents. Brenda
had them meet us at the restaurant. This was the first time I got
to see their little girl, Tegan Lila. Dave had seen her one other
time. We had a fun time at dinner.
Then we went back to the house where Josh had just gotten
home. Scott, Lisa, and Tegan came over as well. Then soon after
we all got inside and settled, Jason and Ravon came with little
Harmony Grace. This is Josh’s brother and sister-in-law and
their new little daughter (she’s 11 days old). It was so much fun
seeing all the little ones together.
Soon they each had to go their own way, and I decided I’d better
finish my journal and get that up. Once I did that I was ready to
head for bed. I’m really tired, and tomorrow we head home - our
final day of travel. So, for all you folks in the Paso Robles area
that I haven’t seen for these many months, I’ll see you soon. ![]()
