This morning we got started on laundry, and had that going
while we ate breakfast. Gail was asking to see pictures of the
kids, and the only ones I have are on the computer. So while
laundry was still going I set up the computer to watch pictures
of Rose, and Chase. I also had pictures of Owen on my phone
that I sent to Gail’s e-mail so she could see him as well.
I must have put the last load of laundry on the wrong setting in
the dryer, because they just weren’t drying. Finally I decided I’d
better take the laundry with us as it was. I figured I could finish
drying it at Josh and Brenda’s place. We needed to get going.
We loaded the car, took pictures, and said our good-byes. Then
we drove on toward Los Banos. It was 3 pm when we finally
pulled up at Josh and Brenda’s. Brenda had an appointment at 4
pm, so we just got into her car when it was time and went along
for the ride.
After her appointment we went to Target and Save Mart to get a
few things. Then back to the house where we played games with
Owen. Brenda bought him a kids Memory Game, so we set out
some of the cards, and I pointed to a card and asked him where
the mate was. He reached over and put them together. Then I did
another, and another, and another, until he had them all paired.
He really did great. He is so happy and cute - you realize that I
am not at all prejudiced of course.
Then Owen wanted to play with his airplanes, so I made a
tunnel with my legs for him to send his airplanes through. After
awhile he tired of that, and pulled out a plastic bat and a bag of
plastic balls. Now this was really funny - at least to me. He took
the bat and held it with great form. But first he hit the bat on the
floor like all good baseball players do. Soon he wanted to play
catch, and then he began to “run the bases” while urging me to
do the same. So I picked up a ball and went after him so I could
tag him “out.”
When Josh got home from work we set out for Pizza Hut to get
some dinner. We chose the Chicken Alfredo pasta dish with five
breadsticks. Once that was gone we went to Baskin Robbins for
ice cream. Back at home, Owen got his pj’s on (with help, of course), then
played a little longer.
Poppy suggested he get a book, and then he would read it to
Owen. So off he went to get a book. He got two books, and
insisted on sitting in a separate chair from Poppy with one of the
books. While Poppy read from one book, Owen turned the
pages of the other book. It was just a “couple of men sitting
together reading side by side.” I did get pictures of this.
Then one by one we all headed off to bed. Poor Brenda was
especially tired. She had to open the store (Starbucks) this
morning very early. Being five months pregnant, she tires pretty
fast.
Good night, all.
