GAP WALK JOURNALS - VIII
Thursday - October 23, 2008
Day - 232
Walking Days - 106 Cumulative miles 1832.7
This morning we got up a little late, then we got ready to go,
loaded the car, and headed out to get some breakfast. After
breakfast we went to WKCL to see Judy, and Kim, and JoAnn,
and all the others. It was so good to see them all. Pastor Carl
wasn’t in because of a death in his family.
After visiting awhile, JoAnn had me come in and get set up for
an interview. It was supposed to be five minutes, but I think it
went a little over. JoAnn did a great job. I really feel so loved by
the people of this station, and I love them as well. They are just
an incredible bunch of people here.
After awhile we had to say good-bye for now. So Judy, Kim,
Dave, and I shared a time of prayer together, then Dave and I
headed out for Tennessee. We stopped at Starbucks and
Bojangles first, then continued on Hwy 26. It was a beautiful
drive, and we so enjoyed the colors of the changing trees.
Dave and I took advantage of the drive to work on our absentee
ballots, with one of us driving, and the other reading out loud
the propositions for our state, then discussing them together. We
have been so busy since Dave arrived before the walk ended that
we haven’t had a chance to work on this. In order to get our
ballots in on time we finally had to come up with this solution
of doing it while we’re in the car. Tomorrow we must get them
mailed.
We made a few rest stops, and each time traded off on the
driving. When we arrived in Asheville, NC, we went to see the
Biltmore Mansion. However, it was too late in the day to really
see it, so we decided not to spend the money on it for such a
short time.
On to Johnson City, TN where we got a room for a couple of
nights. I took in my various suitcases to rearrange them, putting
the summer items in one suitcase, and getting clothes out that I
can wear in the cooler weather. I’m hoping to get things a little
more compact for taking in and out of homes and motels.
Especially now that we’re not staying as long in any one place.
Then after we had been at the motel for an hour or so, Lois (our
granddaughter) and Isaiah (her boyfriend) came, and the four of
us went out to dinner. They had come a little late because
Isaiah’s brother had an accident today, and had a head injury. He
is in ICU tonight, but seems to be stable and doing well. If you
could keep Josh in prayer as he recuperates, I’m sure that Josh,
and Isaiah, and others in their family would appreciate it.
After dinner we went back to our motel. We’ll be seeing more
of Lois and Isaiah tomorrow. For now we’ll just get a few things
done, and then get to bed. I’m having trouble staying awake as
I’m typing this, so it’s time to quit.
