GAP WALK JOURNALS - VIII
Monday through Wednesday - October 20 through 22, 2008
Day 229 through 231
Walking Days - 106 Cumulative miles 1832.7
Monday morning we went to breakfast with Cindy at IHOP.
Pieter wasn’t feeling well, so he didn’t join us. Then we visited
a little longer before packing our stuff into the car and heading
for Lucama, NC. It was a good trip down, and we arrived in
time to visit with Bob and Becky a bit before dinner. More
visiting during and after dinner. It was so good to spend time
with them.
After a good night’s sleep we got started on a new day.
Breakfast was Dave’s favorite - waffles - good choice, Bob.
When breakfast was over, and after sitting at the table visiting
for awhile, we went outdoors to take Dave on a tour of the
property. They have such a fun place. We went out by the creek
and saw the trees and plants there, crossed the street to see the
creek on the other side.
We ended that part of the tour with each of us taking a ride on
the zip line. Now that was fun - even if they did say I made the
ladder shake when I climbed up. And taking my feet from the
ladder to start off on the line, so it took a little longer than they
expected, I finally did it, and loved it.
Then it was on to more adventures with Bob and Becky. After
finding a pair of rubber boots for me, we headed off to find the
beaver dams - through the cornfields and down by the creek.
There we saw the beaver dam. Cool. Our whole time with Bob
and Becky was great.
We left Wednesday morning and headed for Summerville, SC.
Our route went down I-95 to Lumberton. Then we headed over
to Hwy 41, and I drove from there on the route that I had walked
the rest of the way into Summerville. It was great seeing the area
where I had walked a few months earlier. As I drove through I
prayed for these areas once again. I can’t help but wonder
what’s happening because of my prayers and the prayers of
others who live in these areas. How I hope there are many who
will continue to pray in these areas.
We pulled into Summerville at about 4:30 pm, and got a room
where I had stayed before. After calling Judy to let her know we
were in town, we went shopping at Wal-Mart.
Around 6:15 we met Judy, Jim, and Allen at the Chinese
restaurant for dinner. It was great to see them. We were so
excited to see each other. Our meal was delicious, and the
visiting was even greater. And they gave me a beautiful pair of
purple earrings. I was not expecting anything like that.
Tomorrow we’ll be going to WKCL where Judy works. This is
the radio station that gave me so much help back in April when I
was without a driver. I look forward to seeing people at the
station.
Now I’m trying to catch up on a few things before we head to
bed.
