Well today was not at all what we were expecting. It started out
ok, but by 9:45 a m we could see that we were not going to be
going to church. Instead we would be sitting in the motel lobby
talking with the police.
Bonny had gone over to the motel lobby early to use the
computer there. I went over a few minutes later and we went
into the dining room to eat our breakfast. After we ate we went
back to our room, and I worked on the computer some. Bonny
was doing stuff at her desk. Then all of a sudden she went out
the door.
We planned to leave for church at 9:30, so when it got close to
that time I finished getting ready, and began to wonder where
Bonny was. At 9:30 she still hadn’t come back, and I was
getting concerned a bit. We had three different churches picked
out and the one we were planning on was the earliest time, so at
least we could go to a later service if we didn’t make this one.
The room phone rang, and the voice at the other end said “Your
friend is waiting in the lobby for you.” I thought that was odd,
but didn’t know what else to do other than grab her stuff along
with mine and drive up to the lobby to pick her up and head off
to church.
I parked in front and noticed the two police cars parked there,
and wondered what was going on. When Bonny didn’t come out
I went inside the lobby, but she wasn’t there. Now I have to
admit I was getting a bit irritated at all these mysterious goings-
on (I would later ask her forgiveness for this bit of irritability).
Then I saw her out in the court yard talking with another lady. I
called to her and asked if she was ready to go. She came to me
and told me we wouldn’t be going to church, and that we had a
little problem.
My mind was getting very confused as I tried to figure out what
kind of trouble Bonny was in - especially thinking that the
police were involved in this some way. Now if you’ve ever seen
Bonny you would know she’s way too tiny and frail looking to
get into much trouble.
As it turned out the problem was that her purse had gotten stolen
from the dining room. Back earlier when she had left our room
in such a hurry, she had realized she didn’t have her purse and
had gone back to the dining room to retrieve it. But it was no
longer there. The police were called, the motel tapes were
reviewed, and the thief was spotted. I won’t give you all the rest
of the details, but the first thief was quickly apprehended, and
soon a second one was also - the one that the first passed it off
to.
Neither of them now had the purse, but with a little pressure
from the police they told them where they could find it - in the
dumpster. Yes, it was there - covered with yuk.
The policeman brought the purse to our room for Bonny to go
through to see what was missing. Her wallet and cell phone
were both missing. Those still have not been found, and
probably won’t be. After talking some more with the officer, he
gave us his e-mail, phone number, and case number. Since she
will be driving without a license for awhile, this will be what we
need for any problems along that line. Plus if we need to get in
touch with him about anything it will be good to have. He also
has my card and information so he can get in touch with us.
Finally we went over to Cracker Barrel for lunch, then back for
Bonny to work on calls to various ones regarding the missing
contents, to cancel accounts, etc. I worked on some stuff I need
to get ready for my agent, and did bookkeeping, and made some
phone calls. It’s been a long, tough day - especially for Bonny.
Now we’re ready to fix our popcorn dinner and watch a Dutch
Sheets video - that will be our church for today. For those who
don’t know who Dutch Sheets is, he is a great man of prayer,
and a powerful speaker.
After that we’ll get ready for tomorrow and head to bed.
