GAP WALK JOURNAL
Friday - September 26, 2008 Day 205 0.0 miles
Total Pennsylvania miles - 29.9 Walking Days - 94
Washington D.C. miles - 4.6 Cumulative miles 1688.8
Well, that Pennsylvania mileage up there is from July 8 when
we finished the first part of Pennsylvania at Washington’s
Crossing of the Delaware River where Russ and I entered New
Jersey on our way to New York City. It’s ready for tomorrow’s
walk from Philadelphia going south, now on our way to
Washington D C.
This morning I stayed at the motel for two radio interviews by
phone. The first was with WMPC Radio, “Off the Bookshelf”
in Lapeer, MI at 10:00 a m with Greg Bullen. And the second
was TFC Radio Network, “Round the Country” in Toccoa Falls,
GA with Lillian Cash at 12:15 p m. Lillian had interviewed me
back on May 8, I believe, and was now doing a follow-up
interview.
The first interview was about 25 minutes, and the second one
about 20 minutes, I think. They were both fun, and everything
went well with my cell phone plugged in, and my headset on.
Great reception.
Once those were done Bonny and I took off to get some lunch.
Then we drove to Philadelphia and pre-drove the route again so
that Bonny will feel more comfortable with it. I’m only doing a
little over ten miles tomorrow, so we could even find our spot
for the end of the day, which happens to be at a WaWa Market.
Only on the east coast do they have WaWa Markets and gas
stations as far as I know, but I’ve come to know and love these
places for their cleanliness and up to date facilities.
Well, I don’t want to tell you all about tomorrow’s walk before
it happens, so I better move on. Once done with that part of the
route we went on to drive the route for the next walking day,
and we found our place to stop for that day as well - at a Burger
King.
When you’re praying, would you please be praying for the
people I will meet as I walk? Tomorrow has some interesting
potential.
After we pre-drove the second walk day’s route we headed back
for Carney’s Point where our motel is. First though we stopped
at a Dollar Tree and a grocery store to get a few things. Then we
went back to our motel to fix our dinners, eat, and get ready for
tomorrow. I really want to get a good night’s sleep tonight,
because I have just been so tired. Quite frankly, I tend to be a lot
more tired when I’m not walking than when I am.
I also spent time helping Bonny learn how to use the GPS. She
is a good learner - I’m not so sure I’m such a good teacher.
Anyway I’m gonna head for bed now, so good-night for now.
