Today Norma and I went to the Parsippany Presbyterian Church
here in Parsippany where we were based last night, and where I
will be based for the next week and a half or so.
We were met by Tony as we came through the parking lot - a
delightful man who made sure we found our way in to the
church, and afterwards to the coffee gathering.
The service was excellent, and I so appreciated Pastor Donald
Bragg’s message on Psalm 24 - a psalm that was written for a
time of worship at the Temple steps. We are to come into God’s
presence with “clean hands” (those of a person who deals
honestly with neighbors and in business), and a “pure heart”
(not lifting up our souls to what is false). Our personal and our
corporate life needs to characterize who we are in Christ.
This church is now preparing a team to go to the recently
hurricane stricken areas to help with whatever is needed. They
are in touch with people they worked with after Hurricane
Katrina. This is a church that lives what they teach. It was a joy
to worship with them.
When we left the church we came back to our room and Norma
packed her bag, then we headed for the Newark International
Airport (thankfully “Lady G,” our GPS led us safely there, then
brought me safely back to the motel after I saw her off - or at
least through security). I will miss Norma.
I talked with Dave after returning to my room, and I took care of
e-mail, wrote this journal, and worked on highlighting a map for
Norma. I had hoped to get it done for her before she left, but
didn’t make it, so I’ll get it highlighted this week and send it off
in the mail to her, so she can show people where all she had to
drive this “crazy lady.”
I’m going to fix my popcorn in a minute, and eat it while i work
on the map. Hmmm, I better be careful not to get her map greasy
from the buttery popcorn.
I have a nice big room with a refrigerator and microwave. There
is a breakfast room just down the hall, and I’m close to stores
and anything else I need where I’m situated. Interesting how
God always leads us to just the right place for every situation.
Being by myself for these next two days, it is good to have
everything so conveniently close.
