A day of traveling - this time about 300 miles to Falls Church,
Virginia where we have a room for two nights.
Our day started a little later than usual - though not much. We
had breakfast in our room, then packed up, loaded the car,
checked out of our room, and headed off. After a stop at
Starbucks and Mavis Tire Company we were off for Virginia.
We stopped at Mavis because the man in charge of getting our
new tires on the other day was interested in buying a book
and having it autographed. I decided we were close enough to
stop in and see if he really was interested, and he was. It was
raining so I went inside to autograph it, and left it at the desk for
him. He had gone to the car to talk with Norma while I did that.
When I came out we talked a bit more, then shook hands and
said good-bye.
Our trip took us mostly on I-95 - across the George Washington
Bridge in New York, into New Jersey, and over to Pennsylvania
where we had to go to Chester to pick up our mail. Then we
continued on. Much of the time we had rain - through New York
City it was pretty heavy. So much for Norma seeing the New
York Skyline.
We stopped in Maryland at a Rest Area/Welcome Center. I got a
Maryland map and talked for awhile with the Welcome Man. He
appreciated that we were praying for our nation, and he told us
he had quite a few family members in California. It was fun
talking with him.
On to Virginia and to Falls Church where we got a room in the
same motel that Russ and Connee and I stayed in back in July.
After dinner we came back to our room to make phone calls,
write the journal, e–mails and relax a bit.
