Today was a busy day for being a day off. We began with
breakfast at a family restaurant. Then to the Trinity Evangelical
Free Church where we were warmly welcomed. This was a
small congregation, but very nice.
We were able to share about our journey with the congregation,
and enjoyed the singing together. We also enjoyed and
appreciated Pastor Richard Berry’s message from Romans 3: 9-
20. It was a powerful and moving message.
After the service we talked with several people - just a loving
and delightful group. We spent some time with Selma, the
pastor’s wife, and she bought a book from us. What a wonderful
time.
Back at our room Russ finished some work he needed to do on
the routing - some he thought of after last night. Then when he
finished we headed for Portland, ME. It took about two hours to
get there. Our plan was to go to DeMillo’s Floating Restaurant
and eat before picking up Norma. We found the restaurant with
ease, then got a table on the upper deck. Connee and I both
ordered rather normal dishes while Russ ordered a steamed
lobster (we had been told that this restaurant was one of the best
places to get Maine lobster).
This was Russ’ first time to eat a lobster this way, so our very
nice waiter, Chris, brought him a cheat sheet on how to eat a
whole lobster. We took lots of pictures. A Maine lobster had
been high on Russ’ priority list for some time, so it was great to
see that wish fulfilled. And what a beautiful time we had.
After dinner it was time to move on to the airport to get Norma.
We arrived at the cell phone waiting lot and sat there chatting
with the sliding doors and front windows open. All of a sudden
we felt a big splash, then the heavens opened up and it poured
down rain. We quickly closed everything up.
Waiting for the rain to stop I finally decided to put on my rain
jacket and go see if Norma was inside waiting for us. But as I
was putting it on a nice policeman came to the door of our car
asking for Lyn. It seems Norma had missed getting my phone
number put into her phone, and couldn’t get hold of me to let
me know she was there. We then drove around to the pick-up
place where the policeman was waiting with her. That was really
cool.
After getting her stuff loaded, and Norma into the van we
headed out for Skowhegan, stopping on the way to get her some
dinner. What a great time we had talking and catching up on the
two hour drive back.
Once we got back to our motel we got stuff in, and sort of
organized ourselves, then said good-night to Russ as he headed
for his room, and soon we all headed for bed.
