A day of rest for us. Well, rest from walking anyway. It really is
mostly a restful day. Sunday morning church is always special,
and today was no exception. We attended Calvary Baptist
Church in Sherman, ME. Even before we got out of the car we
were greeted by Ed. He noticed our North Carolina temporary
license, and assumed we were from North Carolina. We
explained what we were doing, and he told us he had heard
about us on the radio. Ed was delightful to talk with, but I forgot
to get a picture of him.
Inside we met the pastor briefly, and several other people. Then
it was time for the service to start. Great singing, and a short
presentation by Alison who was preparing to go to China for
about ten months with a ministry team. She shared a beautiful
testimony.
The message this morning was from Nehemiah 4 on serving
God. His message was so right on. When we do God’s will, the
enemy does not like it, and attacks - often with a vengeance. The
very nature of the enemy is to oppose the work of God. Pastor
Donnie Willigar warned us not to run at this time, but to pray
instead. He says to pour out our hearts to God. Constant
communication with God is important. God will give us a
course of action. He may point out changes we need to make,
and he will give us encouragement.
As we keep doing what God calls us to do, He will give us the
victory. He will be with us, and will stand up and fight for us.
Hang in there. Don’t quit.
If we walk with God, we will have nothing to fear! Someday we
will hear Jesus greet us with these words, “Well done good and
faithful servant!”
Pastor Willigar gave us three words to remember - Pray,
Prepare, and Persist!
After the service we talked with a few people. Gayle had several
questions for us. She was a very vibrant person and a delight to
talk with. Her husband, Bill, was also delightful. I did get a
picture of them.
From the church we went to the Pizza Place at the airport in
Patten to eat. Our Sunday dinner was delicious. We also stopped
by the Lumberman’s Museum. Inside we looked around in the
main building, but no one showed up to take our money, so we
left without seeing the rest of it.
Back in our room we did chores, crossword puzzles, napped,
and whatever else we needed to do. Even watched a little TV.
Back to walking tomorrow.
