Total North Carolina miles - 29.4 Walking Days - 34
Accumulative miles - 501.4
Today was our day for church. Not far from us is a church we
have seen several times since moving to Lumberton. The roof
design has intrigued us each time we’ve driven by. Now that’s
not why we chose this church, but it was fun to end up there.
Newgate Community Church is a Christian Missionary Alliance
Church. The service was good. It was communion Sunday, and
the pastor talked about Jesus: our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and
Coming King. The hymns were all familiar ones that I loved.
We met several wonderful and delightful people.
After church we went to find a restaurant and discovered all the
restaurants were overflowing with business today. It seems there
are a couple of big things happening this weekend in the area - a
PowWow is going on all weekend. Chelsea Clinton is in town
today speaking at the PowWow. Bill Clinton was in town last
week.
We finally went back to the first place we looked at. Daryl
dropped me off so I could get us signed in while she looked for
a parking spot. As it turned out, with only two of us we didn’t
have a long wait. It was the big groups that were having to wait.
After lunch we went back and got laundry together, then headed
out to find a coin laundry. It was a busy place, but at least it was
clean. It only takes us about an hour to do laundry - 25 minutes
for the wash and half an hour for the dryer. Whatever isn’t dry
after that goes back to the room to hang up and spread out
wherever we can find space. Most will be dry in a couple of
hours.
Daryl is out walking around and trying to find a local newspaper
so we can read about the local happenings. I’m going to post
this journal entry, then do bookkeeping (just a few things to
enter on that), take care of some email, then just relax for the
evening with my feet up.
